‘Twas A Miracle at Christmas’

‘Twas the night before Christmas
came the sound of a knock’
Santa went to the door and opened the lock.
No one to be seen but a bundle is there
All wrapped in a basket, with so much care.

Mrs. Claus come quick, look what has arrived
A bundle in a basket, it may be alive.
They picked up the basket, took it in by the fire
The elves gathered round so all could admire.

Let’s untie the ribbon and see what’s inside
Oh my! Mrs. Claus said with great pride
Such a wee little babe so tiny and sweet
I can’t believe my eyes, she’s such a treat.

Mrs. Claus picks her up and she gives a little whine,
I will feed you and warm you, so you will be fine.
She bathes and changes her and gives a quick rock,
Hush my sweetheart, dream of sheep in a flock.

Santa, you must look to find her a home
Loving parents to guide her, so she won’t roam
A great Christmas miracle for a family to love
As was the Christ child from our Father above.

“Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On Cupid!
On, Donner amd Blitzen!
To the tope of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away All!”

So into the sky, to the house tops they flew
A sleigh full of toys, St. Nick and the babe too.
In wonder and amazement to Santa’s surprise
A roof with a bright star, he smiles at his wee prize.

Down the chimney he went, so careful was he …
He then took a seat with the babe on his knee.
A man and a woman appeared out of the light,
Santa knew in a moment, that this home was right.

With smiles they both take a peek inside
The wee baby greets them, eyes open wide.
Her eyes … how they twinkled! Her dimples so merry!
Her cheeks were like roses, her nose like a cherry!
There stood the couple with their arms open wide
Where Santa placed the baby his face beaming with pride.

As tears stream down their faces to the floor
They look to the jolly old elf standing by the door.
He gives them a nod, a grin, Oh what a sight!
“Merry Christmas and Blessings” on this miracle night.

To all my Clay Friends and Baby Face Friends; I hope you enjoyed this Special Christmas Story and I Wish Each and Everyone A Blessed and Merry Christmas!
