Uneeda 13" Toddles AA Doll 1968 - Red Smocked Dress - Similar to Horsman Ruthie
This Uneeda doll is very much like the 13 inch Horsman Ruthie dolls from the 1970's, and that's what I thought she was until I looked at her neck which is clearly marked UNEEDA DOLL COMPANY 1968. She is the AA or black doll version, which is always more rare. I named her Toddles because Uneeda named a whole lot of dolls with the name of Toddles: it was as common as Horsman's name of Ruthie. But I don't actually know what name the doll was sold under.
Toddles seems to be wearing her own original dress, panties, shoes and socks. The smocked dress is especially cute. It has buttons in the back. Hair ribbons are new. Hair is all there but is a little dry (you can use baby oil or skin-so-soft oil to freshen up dry doll hair.) She has long pigtails on each side. Amber eyes are clear and they open/shut easily. She is missing some lashes on each eye. Some cheek rubs. I don't think she was played with though. Her head and arms are soft vinyl. Body is blow-molded plastic and so are the legs. She is 13 inches tall. She is mostly clean.
